Technical Rider for Presentations:
John Hoover, PhD & Roger P. DiSilvestro

  1. Dr. John and Roger like to work as close to their audiences as possible (and practical) without compromising any audience member’s ability to see. They prefer not to use a lectern, podium, or have anything between them and the audience. This means whatever seating arrangement you elect to use for your meeting, they’ll move in and among the audience as much as space allows.
  2. Unless otherwise specified, Dr. John and Roger request a first-class sound amplification system with an operator during the presentation. In descending preference, they prefer (1) a wireless lavaliere microphone or (2) a wireless handheld microphone or (3) a wired lavaliere microphone or (4) a wired handheld microphone. All should be unidirectional. Fresh batteries are a must for all wireless equipment. Also include a podium microphone for introduction and backup purposes.
  3. Unless otherwise specified, Dr. John and Roger request a recently-manufactured laptop or desktop PC with a 1200 lumens (minimum) LCD projector or better with a projection surface and image size adequate for the entire audience to see easily. They prefer to use a wireless remote (pickle) to change PowerPoint slides.
  4. When video taping is involved, Dr. John and Roger request a minimum of 500 watts front light and 500 watts backlight covering the speaking area. Frontlight should have spun diffusion in gel frames and color correction as required by the camera format. There should be a locked-off camera recording audience reactions and a locked-off camera on the speaking area for B-roll purposes. The locked off cameras should record on separate tape loads for the entirety of the presentation with a separate audio microphone and channel.
  5. When the event is videotaped by the event sponsor or producers, Dr. John Hoover or Roger DiSilvestro will be given a digital copy of the master recordings from each camera, along with a first-class recording (preferably digital) of any audio recording made of their remarks. There is no additional charge for recording because Dr. John and Roger want you to have a quality record of your meeting. However, prior, written consent is required in any event.

Dr. John and Roger want your event to be a success and for your attendees to enjoy their experience as much as possible. Attention to these details in advance will ensure the highest probability of achieving those goals. Whether or not there are any questions about these items or alternative arrangements need to be made, Dr John or Roger will request a pre-event telephone conference with the event producers a minimum of one calendar week prior to the presentation. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
